Microcurrent

Microcurrent treatments are one of the latest trends when it comes to the pursuit of anti-aging.

This skin treatment uses electrical currents to promote cell growth and muscle stimulation. Unlike Botox injections and traditional facelifts, it is a painless, non-invasive procedure. It also produces immediate benefits and with zero recovery time necessary.

How Does It Work?

Microcurrent facials pass low-voltage electrical currents through your skin, essentially giving your facial muscles a mini-workout. They activate other functions such as the lymphatic system, encouraging it to drain any toxins that might be present.

By running the negatively and positively charger probes across your face, your aesthetician increases cellular activity. This ultimately causes the strengthening of your muscles and connective tissues, leading to smoother and healthier-looking skin.

Other than a simple facial cleanse, no preparation is required. You won’t have to avoid eating certain foods or fast for hours beforehand. However, if you tend to use heavy-duty or abrasive cleansers, you should set those aside a few days before your treatment.

What Are the Benefits?

There are countless beauty and health benefits to having a microcurrent spa treatment. This type of facial is great for:

•    Wrinkle reduction
•    Promoting acne healing
•    Increased collagen production
•    Promoting cell growth
•    Smoother skin aesthetic

•    Skin detoxification
•    Tightening and toning facial muscles

Microcurrent treatment is so much more than a regular facial. It works on your skin to provide noticeable results. The best part is you don’t have to deal with annoying recovery times, subtle scarring, pain, or bruising like you would with other anti-aging procedures.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Whether you’re using an at-home tool or going to the spa, you’ll need more than one treatment. It takes time for the muscles in your face to build up strength.

Frequency suggestions vary. A good middle ground is to start with one treatment per week, then taper off to once every 4 to 6 weeks as you begin to see lasting results.

The aestheticians at the Beauty Factory Spa in New York will be able to advise you on how many treatments are necessary depending on your goals and schedule.

Who Can Get a Microcurrent Facial?

Every skin type can benefit from a microcurrent facial. However, people with certain pre-existing conditions should avoid them.

Since this treatment involves electrical currents it should be avoided by those who are pregnant, nursing, or have pacemakers. It is also not recommended if you have open sores or severe cystic acne.

It should also be noted that if you have undergone multiple or regular Botox injections, you may not experience the same benefits from microcurrent facials.
